Between the 2nd and 4th of December, 2009, in Santiago, Chile, the 6th version of the International Mineral Processing Seminar - PROCEMIN 2009 took place, during which authors of 55 papers showed the recent advances and innovations in the mining industry and, specifically, in the mineral processing industry.
PROCEMIN 2009 was an international forum where operators, researchers and suppliers of the mining industry in general and specifically of the mineral processing area, analysed and discussed the technological innovations and recent developments, process and equipment design, and greenfield and expansion projects.
The enthusiastic participation of professionals was met with great interest as 340 delegates from 20 countries participated in the PROCEMIN 2009 seminar. Those who attended included high ranking business executives, engineers, consultants, suppliers, academics, researchers, and college students. Mining companies were represented by 114 delegates, 53 delegates represented engineering and consulting companies, 111 represented equipment and service suppliers and 62 represented universities and research centres.
The slogan of this sixth version of the seminar was “Producing more with less”, which refers to the adverse times that the mining sector faced last year on global scale as effect of the financial crisis. The areas covered in the seminar were: Crushing and Grinding Simulation, Energy Efficiency in Comminution, High Pressure Grinding Rolls (HPGR), Fundamentals of Flotation, Flotation Process Development, Flotation Control and Optimisation, Project Management and Plant Operation, Water Management and Tailings Handling.
The seventh version of the PROCEMIN seminar will be organised from 8 to 10 December 2010, in Santiago, Chile. Interested authors are invited to submit a 300-word abstract of their paper in English by 18 April 2010 to procemin@procemin.cl
